MAC - Superglass Review + Giveaway!

May 13, 2010
Shattered, decimated, blinded by a fantastic, intergalactic lip light! Just when you thought Dazzleglass was the best-of bright, along comes Superglass, with secret, snowflake-shaped helicone pearls sparkling in three different facets for triple the dazzle! Lips have gone big bang, explosively dimensional, a rare eclipse! Gloss feels slick and sleek on application with no draggy speed bumps, not a hint of grit. A light aroma of vanilla enhances kissability. Extreme innovation that’s a good reflection on MAC and the seductress lucky enough to strike upon it.

Superglass ($18 US/$21.50 CDN)
-Tunnel of Love- Deep blue brown (Pearl)
-Sugar Overload- White beige (Pearl)
-Disco Blend- Light tan (Pearl)
-Sweet Tart- Baby pale pink (Pearl)
-Gift Wrap- Light pinky peach (Pearl)
-Totally Bang!- Fuchsia (Pearl)
-Cherry Electric- Bright cherry pink (Pearl)
-Superflash!- Mid-tone yellow pink (Pearl)
-Fab Frenzy- Deep blue purple (Pearl)

I tried Gift Wrap (4th from the left), which is probably the color I would have chosen first anyway. It's a bright coral-y pink with large chunks of holographic shimmer. Meaning, this is no subtle shimmer. I personally was not a fan of the big chunks of shimmer. The formula is similar to Dazzleglass and pretty sticky, but I prefer Dazzleglass to these.

MAC - Pret-a-Papier Reviews

May 12, 2010
CRAFT-PAPER COUTURE- AN INSPIRED IDEA CUT LIKE A PATTERN AND WHIPPED UP INTO A FRISKY LITTLE "FUNNY FACE" FROCK. Then, strip it back to its essence for Summer 2010 with a Pret-a-Papier colour collection. It was a Project Runway challenge of sorts, with paper as the source, the instigator of ideas, the beginning of something simply, basically beautiful. Lipstick, Lipglass, Eey Shadow, Paint Pot, Chromagraphic Pencil, Studio Fix Lash, Impeccable Brow Pencil, Sheertone and Mineralize Blushes, and Nail Lacquer in a seamless spectrum of parchment-to-vellum beiges, with an occasional, clever colour spill, coral among the most au courant. AVEC PRET-A-PAPIER, A NEW COUTURE STAR IS BORN!

Chromagraphic Pencil ($14.50 US/$17.50 CDN)

Impeccable Brow Pencil
($15 US/$18 CDN)
-Dirty Blonde- Blackened dark-neutral brown
-Taupe- Mid-tone dirty taupe

Studio Fix Lash ($13 US/$15.50 CDN)
-Black Fix- Black

Sheertone Blush ($18.50 US/$22 CDN)
-Instant Chic- Mid-tone muted coral
-Garb- Light golden suntan

I got to try both of these and I love both. They're very natural. I immediately de-potted and stuck in my blush portfolio, as I call it, because it's so huge. Don't be afraid to try Garb on, I usually don't think brown blush- let me try it, but it looks surprisingly nice.

Mineralize Blush ($23 US/$27.50 CDN)
-Light Over Dark- Light yellow brown/dark peach (frost)

Paint Pot ($16.50 US/$20 CDN)
-Coral Crepe- Soft coral
-Groundwork- Mid-tone neutral taupe

Groundwork is a staple paint pot of mine. I think I own them all, except for the blue one from the Alexander McQueen Collection. Paint pots are awesome for summer because they don't budge in the heat. Coral Crepe is a mid-tone coral that I would absolutely love as a blush, but for me it just didn't work as an eye shadow. Much too pink.

Lipstick ($14 US/$16.50 CDN)
-Archetype- Sheer light gold (lustre)
-Dressmaker, Dressmaker- Creamy-light peach-coral (lustre)
-Made To Order- Creamy mid-tone dirty coral (lustre)

Lipglass ($14 US/$16.50 CDN)
-C-Thru- Peachy-beige with shimmer
-Fold And Tuck- Mid-tone bright coral with soft pearl
-Pret-a-Papier- Dark reddened bronze with pearl

Eye Shadow ($14 US/$17.50 CDN)
-Tissueweight- Frosted pale peach (frost)
-Bamboo- Light beige with peach (matte)
-Cut To Fit- Frosted red-bronze (frost)
-Gazette Grey- Dark green-grey with gold pearl (velvet)
-Memorabilia- Dirty purple (matte)

Nail Lacquer ($12 US/$14.50 CDN)

NEW: Stila Raspberry Crush Lip & Cheek Stain

May 12, 2010

The newest addition to the Stila Lip & Cheek Stains is... Raspberry ($24)! I personally have not tried ANY of the stains yet, I'm not exactly sure what I'm waiting for, I guess I was hoping for a set of sorts, but I'm thinking that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Skindinavia Summer Musts: Summer Moisturizer SPF 8 & Original Makeup Finish

May 03, 2010

Lately I've felt... uninspired. There's lots of things. around. but not a whole lot that I feel like writing about. ::long sigh:: oh well. Is global warming getting to anyone? It annoys me. This winter flat out sucked and I have a feeling this summer is going to be a scorcher. It's all ready pretty hot outside here in Baltimore, at least. 80 degrees. So I'm going to talk about a couple summer must-haves.

Skindinavia Summer Moisturizer SPF 8 ($39, 4 oz.) is a light mist that hydrates the skin and protects with SPF 8. It pulls moisture to the skin surface for up to 16 hours and primes skin for makeup application.

I've never tried a spray moisturizer before, I don't think, so this was intriguing to me. It feels different on than the other Skindinavia sprays. It bonds to your skin quickly and it doesn't feel dewy at all but it creates a harder, shinier type of layer for your makeup to glide onto. I wish the SPF was more like 20 or 25 but other than that I liked it. It's something new and functional, because I hate slathering on a thick cream on a humid day, it feels like it melts off. This is a lovely alternative. I can't say my skin felt super hydrated after using it, but it didn't feel dry. It's supposed to be a two in one thing, like moisturizer + the Original Makeup Finishing Spray but truthfully, I haven't used it without the other. I'm too paranoid about my makeup disappearing.

I'm used to using the Original Makeup Finish ($29, 4 oz.) every time I put on makeup. It's a true favorite and makeup artist staple. Besides holding makeup in place, it improves the makeup quality. It brightens colors, reduces shine and keeps foundation out of fine lines. Cryogenic technology lowers the makeup's temperature to avoid slipping or melting.

A couple spritzes over my face and I'm good to go. While I wouldn't go as far to say it holds for +16 hours, it works for the whole night, which I'd say is like 4-5 hours. It's a true favorite of mine, I have a smaller bottle too for travel, which I love. I really want to try the Dance! Makeup Finish and the Cool Flash Makeup Finish and see what the differences are... because they sound like the same thing.

Review: Clinique Smoothie Kisses

April 27, 2010

One of my latest purchases from Sephora was Clinique's Smoothie Kisses ($46 value, for $25). I decided to pick it up because I remembered I really like Clinique and haven't used a whole lot from them in a while. It's a set of 4 Vitamin C Lip Smoothies in:
-Pink Me Up- Soft pink with flecks of silvery pearl
-Mango-Thon- Burnt orange with golden shimmer
-Goodness Grapecious- Soft dusty purple
-Nude-tritious- Soft nude brown with shimmer
Lip Smoothies are moisturizing glosses that contain Vitamin C and Antioxidant protection. These are 4 of the 6 colors available. The bag is tiny and cute, but I can't really think of a good use for it other than holding the glosses. Maybe some change or something. All of the colors are wearable and quite pretty on, my favorites were Mango-Thon and Nude-tritious, but they lack staying power. The formula itself is okay and I like that it's unscented/fragrance-free, but I wish it had different packaging. They're on the small side and I dislike that you can't see how much is left in the tube, like Stila's. So you never really know when you'll run out. Also, I really dislike the pen/click packaging. You have to twist it a million times before anything comes out. And remember that it's slow, so you click it twice, nothing comes out, click it a few more times and then a minute later a too much comes oozing out. It's just too much trouble. That's why I will NEVER buy another clicky-pen gloss. Ever. Wands and brushes are the way to go. Pot gloss gets a thumbs down too. Except for MAC's Tendertones. Those are nice. Anyway, it sucks because I really wanted to like these. :(

Burtify Yourself For Earth Day!

April 19, 2010
In the spirit of Earth Day and making the world a better place, Burt's Bees is asking everyone to "Find their inner Burt." If you go to findyourburt.com you can upload a photo or video of yourself and it will "Burtify" you. I was lucky enough to get a little kit with a hat, a yellow bandanna with a beard printed on it (so cute!) and a Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate. I love Burt's Bees and all of their products. I also love how readily available they have become! I see them everywhere. My #1 favorite is still the original Beeswax Lip Balm and my #2 is the Baby Bee Nourishing Baby Oil. So support the earth, natural ingredients and finding the beauty in nature and "Burtify" yourself!
